call for demos

The AAMAS-2004 Organising Committee invites Demonstrations of agent technologies and agent-related software and hardware. We welcome a wide variety of demonstrations, such as autonomous robots, agent software, Internet robot demonstrations, robot soccer demonstrations and videos. The goal for the demonstrations is to illustrate the technical advances in the state of the art of autonomous agents.

The selection of demos will be based upon a number of factors, including scientific contribution, originality and innovation. Commercial products are eligible, but sales and marketing activities are not appropriate.

Space will be available for creating environmental settings as needed by the teams. Robot demos will be scheduled during the conference. Additionally, teams may demonstrate their robots during social events and coffee breaks of the conference.

requirements for submissions

  1. A brief description of the demonstration. For example, "We will demonstrate co-operative localisation and mapping, using two mobile robots. The demonstration GUI will show range data being collected and an online, real-time map building process."

  2. A two-page summary of the technical content of the demo, to be distributed at the conference. The best summaries in each category will be included in the proceedings.

  3. A detailed description of hardware and software requirements, such as space, site set ups, power supplies. AAMAS-2004 will attempt to provide necessary equipment, but demonstrators will be required to provide their own special-purpose equipment.

  4. A URL for a currently-active WWW-based demo, video clip, or a demo storyboard. A demo storyboard would consist of 6 images or power-point slides depicting the various stages of the demo, e.g., 6 screen-shots from a software demo, or 6 images from a robot simulation.
All proposals should be submitted by electronic mail to the Demo Chairs Nicholas Roy and Dieter Fox at nickroy+demos@mit.edu, in plain ASCII text, no later than Monday, February 23, 2004 (new date!).

Submitters will be notified of the committee's decision no later than Tuesday, March 23, 2004.
