2016 IFAAMAS Influential Paper Award

The award committee selected the paper:

"Agent Communication Languages: Rethinking the Principles" by Munindar P. Singh

as the winner of the 2016 IFAAMAS influential paper award.

The paper has charted a new direction in multiagent systems' research. In particular, the paper introduced a new approach to modeling communication among agents. It marked a major departure from preceding approaches to agent interaction, focusing on public, external manifestation of agent behaviors. Thus, the influence of the paper on our discipline is very significant.
