Airport Access

From Airport to Conference Venue:

By Taxi: This is the most convenient way. Estimated fare is S$22-$30 (Depending on time).

By MRT Train: Board the train towards Tanah Merah and alight at Tanah Merah Station (9 minutes, 2 stops), change to the train towards Joo Koon and alight at Outram Park Station (24 minutes, 12 stops) and walk about 1km for 15 minutes. The trip costs S$1.79. MRT operation time: 5:31am - 11:18pm.

By Bus: Take bus 36 from Changi Airport Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) 2 Bus Terminal (located at Basement 2 of Changi Airport Terminal 2), alight at the stop The Esplanade (it takes 20 stops and approximately 41 minutes). From the stop “The Esplanade” take bus 195 and alight at stop Grand Copthorne Hotel (it takes 11 stops and approximately 13 minutes). It costs around S$1.94. The bus operates from 6:10am to 10:55pm, with frequency ranging from 6 to 15 minutes.


City Transport

Bus: There are two main bus operators in Singapore: SBS Transit Ltd and SMRT Buses Ltd. The services run through the day and both operators have special Night buses. Find out about fares and timetables on the official websites: http://www.sbstransit.com.sg/http://smrt.com.sg/

Taxi: The taxis are metered, however certain pick up spots and times could add a surcharge onto your fare. You can hail a taxi by the roadside at most places, or by queuing for one at taxi stands. If you wish to book a cab, you can call a common taxi booking number 6342-5222, and your call will be routed to an available taxi company's call centre.

Time Zone

Singapore Standard Time is GMT +8 hours.

Power Plug

The standard electrical current used in Singapore is 220-240 volts AC (50 cycles) and you can use power plugs with three square prongs here.

Tipping

Tipping is welcome, but not customary. Most restaurants and hotels have added a standard 10 percent service charge to your bill.

Tax Refund

Tourists can claim a refund on the 7% Goods and Services Tax (GST) paid on purchases if they spend more than $100 at participating shops. To know whether a shop is participating in the Tourist Refund Scheme, either look for a “Tax Free” shopping logo or check with the retailer about whether the purchases are eligible for the GST refund.

No Smoking Areas

You are not allowed to smoke in all air-conditioned places, such as malls and eateries. There are designated smoking areas in some entertainment outlets and open-air eateries.

Drinking Water

You can drink water straight from the tap as the water in Singapore passes World Health Organization standards. You can also buy bottled water easily.

The local currency is Singapore Dollar. Foreign currency can be exchanged at the airport as well as at private exchange offices found throughout the city.

Weather

Singapore is hot and humid all year-round, with temperatures usually reaching over 30°C. You should be prepared for rain at any time, which can be torrential but usually brief.

The conference venue is located in Robertson quay which has some international restaurants and alfresco dining options available. Clarke Quay and Boat quay are also within 2-3km radius of conference venue and have varieties of options available. The following places are within 700-800 meters distance from the conference venue.
